Mary Marble Conservation at Our Lady of Perpetual Help-St. Catharine Parish

Washed and cleaned several times with marble cleaner.
Some staining was so imbedded for many years it was impossible to remove all of it.
Took out loose grout and cement from base and footing and filled cracks with a stone epoxy.
Pinned and reattached broken fingers, sanded cracks and filled areas in hands. Tinted hands a slightly darker tone.
Applied two coats of marble sealer.
Recommendations: Remove soil to a level below the footing (1-2” minimum). Move plants away from sculpture. Create proper draining so water doesn’t collect around the footing of sculpture. I would suggest adding a sealer every two years.
