Salvaged (a.k.a. antique or vintage) clay tile comes in almost limitless variety of styles, finishes, manufacturers and colors. Cast from terra cotta and fired in hundreds of localities and in historical periods going back as far as two centuries, matching existing historic clay tile can be a difficult task. Clay tile is a natural product, taken from the earth, and colors may vary considerably even from the same manufacturer, even from the same period. Similarly, we cannot be sure that a glazes and styles for samples will match until we see it in the field.
